The Underground

*Before we start looking at the lyrics, we can already link this song to our existing underground theories, since this song is called ‘The Underground’.

*When you were just a wild moon child, They deprived you of things for a while, A baptist child lives with unfair minds, Looking for a reason to survive.

‘They’ could be a reference to Lieseil. Lieseil is depriving the moon child of freedom and/or basic necessities. Infant baptism is the practise of baptising infants/young children. This lyric could possibly be saying that the child had no choice in getting baptised and being forced to be theist, therefore they are living with unfair thoughts or being surrounded by unfair people. The last line is self-explanatory: the moon child and baptist child are losing hope, the world is being destroyed by Lieseil and they’re looking for a reason to survive.

This paragraph could also link the wild moon child to the ‘wild ones’ reference. It could possibly mean that the moon child had to hide in the ‘wild’ (away from civilisation) so they weren’t being captured by Lieseil. They felt trapped because if they left, they would risk being brainwashed. The Lost Boys = Palaye Royale. They have ‘nature eyes’ because they can see the real world and aren’t being brainwashed (currently). Again, they are looking for a reason to survive.

*It’s our choice you got to be treason, It’s about time you got to be leaving, Chocolate blue skies never fade, Sunset horizons always our parade

Treason is the crime of betraying one’s home country, especially by attempting to overthrow/kill the leadership organisation. In this case, it’s the underground revolution wanting to overthrow Lieseil. The adjective ‘chocolate’ can be used to describe a murky, uninviting brown coloured sky. It implies that the state of murky gloom will never leave. Sunset horizons talk about when the moon children can go outside (at night), therefore it becomes their ‘parade’.

*I’ve got a heart beat a heart, heart beat going down, Take me to underground, Heart beat a heart, heart beat going down, Take me to underground.

The heartbeat going down could either imply that 1) the person is feeling relaxed as they go underground (because they are safe from Lieseil), or 2) it’s going down, literally to the underground, whilst inside their body.

*As you wait for something to fight for, People find themselves without a cause, And all I see are hidden lies, Behind the all seen eye, oh yeah.

They are waiting for a reason to fight. A rebel who fights without a cause is a person who rebels against the established governmental/societal norms, without having a distinguished goal of what they want to achieve. This means that some people are protesting against Lieseil with no distinct aim. The last two lines are an obvious hint towards Lieseil. The ‘all seeing eye’ is a representation of Lieseil and the fact that they want/can see everything and everyone – ‘gods amongst men’. The hidden lies are a reference to the corrupt system behind them, and to the name Lieseil (lies).

*Opening your mouth wide open shut now, Doctors shoot the veins with water from the sea, And I know kids are given guns, To relieve the elderly.

Opening your mouth is often related to the act of talking. Lieseil doesn’t like individuality and being able to speak freely, so everyone is ordered to shut their mouths. The water from the sea is a big symbolism for obstacles/loss of hope. The doctors are purposely injecting people with it to make them weaker and for them to submit to Lieseil’s brainwashing. Kids are given guns to kill the elderly is a sign of population control. It shifts the blame from the people in power to the younger generations and is showing that the people are simply tools for Lieseil to use.

*If you want it you got it you say that you want it, Exist between the light of day, Want it you got it say that you’ll try it, Saying that we don’t need to pay.

Existing between the light of day supports the theory of them only coming to the surface at night. ‘If you want it you got it’ could possibly be talking about them wanting freedom and individuality. Money is an incentive for Lieseil (hence the logo being a £, which is the British GBP symbol), and is a way of controlling society. Not wanting to pay and ‘rebelling’ against the system is a way of refusal to take part in Lieseil’s game.
