Where is the Boom?

  • Sebastian has mentioned before that this song is a key part in the Lieseil/Warhol storyline, specifically their attitude towards the Bastards.
  • ‘All you bastards hum along’ – direct reference/foreshadowing to the Bastards album. This is also a reference to Love the Void (‘humming along to the loveliest dream), where the Bastards have been given Anhedonia, and they are being controlled. This line could be a direct statement from Lieseil to the Bastards.
  • Pills/drugs are repeatedly mentioned in the lyrics, which is a way that Lieseil manipulates/controls the Bastards, by drugging the red drink.
  • ‘I tried to sell my soul, it didn’t go so well’ – reference to All My Friends and White. In White, Palaye/Remington offer Lieseil money so they can keep their identity/souls, however in this line (and in All My Friends), they don’t succeed, and are still being controlled by Lieseil.
  • ‘But they stole my dreams again…’/’My dreams are dead again’ – Lieseil and Warhol preventing Palaye from revolting again by giving them manipulative drugs.
  • ‘I want to go live under the sea, I want to live in a yellow submarine’ – this could be a disney reference (the Little Mermaid) and a Beatles reference, however it could also relate to the ship of Obsidian, and Palaye’s desperation to be back on their journey to the revolution.
