- This song is most likely told from the point of view of Remington, who is Mr. Doctor Man
- Remington has lost his mind from the experiments in the mental estate, and started using substances (maybe cocaine – due to the unreleased song) to help himself cope with the psychological effects. “found a way to cope, needle in his throat”, also shown in Anxiety.
- “chemically it’s running through my veins you see”- this is a reference to the drugs and psychological experiments that they were put under in the mental estate (specifically the red drink & anhedonia gas).
- “romance of the plastic scenes”- could be a reference to the plastic mannequins as seen in You’ll Be Fine and Anxiety, at least one of which could represent a part of Remington. If this theory is true, this line is Rem talking about he misses the part of him that was extracted in the experiments.
- “I can’t see you breathe”- this is representative of the use of Anhedonia, or Boom Boom gas, to manipulate the patient’s mind.
- “…this little boy who came from hell…I’ll tell you all the ways he’s misunderstood”- in the music video for Mr. Doctor Man, we can see that this little boy is the younger version of Remington. This is confirmed in the lyrics because Rem has a tattoo that says ‘misunderstood’.
