Ma Cherie

  • This song is most likely about Mrs Infamous, and similarly to Hospital Beds, she has been manipulated/operated on by Lieseil. This leads her to turn against Palaye, since she has been conditioned to condemn them and the revolution.
  • ‘Well I can’t seem to make you smile anymore’ / ‘I see you drifting away from me’ – Mrs Infamous is turning against Palaye, due to the manipulation from Lieseil (as explained above).
  • ‘Prefer the needle to me’ / ‘I see you dancing under his streetlight’ – Mrs Infamous is siding with Lieseil, since she has become so manipulated by him that she is dependent on him. This allows Lieseil to perpetuate his ‘God-like’ narrative even further. This is similar to Teenage Heartbreak Queen (‘well I fell in love with my best friend, she fell in love with you instead).
  • ‘She just walked out the door’ – Possibly the same door mentioned in Primary Propaganda, and Teenage Doors of Heartbreak (now Teenage Heartbreak Queen). Mrs Infamous has abandoned Palaye, to side with Lieseil.
  • ‘I just needed her to stay’ – Palaye are now feeling hopeless, since their happiness has left to join their oppressor. This would lead them into a downwards spiral (possibly to the Rag Doll/Doom ect. storyline).
  • Since Mrs Infamous isn’t a real person, this song is a metaphor for Palaye’s hopelessness in the mental estate. They feel completely alone, since the one thing that is keeping them alive and (somewhat) hopeful has abandoned them in a heartbeat. This shows that Lieseil’s manipulation is working. This leads us to believe that this song could be a predecessor to Lonely.
