Clockwork

  • Remington has been taken over by Lieseil, and part of his identity has ‘died’. This could reference the departure/death of Mrs Infamous (for Remington), and Lieseil trying to take away Remington’s femininity/identity – aka his personal hope/willpower. Remington feels hopeless, and this makes the song more of a surrender, similar to Too Many People, Rag Doll and Doom. This song also takes place in the Mental Estate.
  • ‘You float downstream’ – reference to Love the Void. This line talks about being carried through life without meaning, which could be how Remington feels after his identity is stripped from him by Lieseil. He is also surrounded by water, which is a common obstacle in the storyline. Remington feels trapped and surrounded by hardship, with no Mrs Infamous to help him through.
  • ‘Lifeless flowers’ – flowers are the antidote against Lieseil/Anhedonia gas, however if the flowers are lifeless, then the antidote has failed and Lieseil has won.
  • ‘On my grave’/’Six feet underground’ – links to death, and possibly a link/prequel to Lonely.
  • ‘I want to take you home’ – Remington wanting to go back to Obsidian/the revolution, with Mrs Infamous.
