Nervous Breakdown

*The video begins with clips of FWMH, which transitions into the story of Nervous Breakdown

*“oh no dont let them take me in there, i’ll never get out of it. Oh god what will happen to me now”

*After the abduction, the Bastards find themselves in Lieseil Inc. Mental Estate. They are each held in separate cells, in pure isolation. They are here to be experimented on, to brainwash them again, to be reminded of Lieseil Inc.’s power.

*Alister Warhol again is watching them through tv screens, conducting what will occur to them.

*This video also contains outside clips of different psychological experiments. All of these either have the patient’s eyes covered, or the experiment itself is being done on the eyes. This again is a symbol of the all-seeing eye, and how the general citizen can not see everything, but the corporate power does.

*The three brothers are each taking the situation very differently. Sebastian seems to be the calmest of the three, and doesn’t show many signs of distress. Remington’s brain is going a million miles an hour, and he is definitely being affected mentally by the situation. Emerson is by far handling it the worst of the three. Similar to Remington in You’ll Be Fine, he is going practically insane with hatred for Lieseil Inc.

*0:47 – Emerson rips his art off the walls, and continues to trash his cell

*0:52 – A match is lit by emerson, and he takes it to his art, then throwing it on the floor and on the bed. The flame is a connection to Morning Light and Get Higher, both in which Emerson has lit a fire, yet each was for a different reason. In NB, its to fight his own mind and his own frustrations. In Get Higher, its to burn Lieseil Inc. and remove its effects. In Morning Light, its to represent the revolution as a whole.

*1:06 – We can see Alister press a button, which immediately emits smoke onto their three patients, which causes them to become weaker and possibly pass out.

*In FWMH and in the beginning of NB, we can see that Remington’s hair is blonde, but his hair color changes to black in the bathtub scene. He is dying his own hair back to black, but it is forced onto him. The hair color is a symbol of his individuality, and in the mental estate he is stripped of his identity, hence the hair color change

*Each of the three brothers undergoes some form of torture. Remington’s individuality is stripped, Sebastian is tied in place, and Emerson is forced to watch some horrific scenes related to eyes.

*The only sign of struggle that we see from Sebastian in this music video is when he is tied up in the chains, as he gets increasingly frantic. This can be a sign that Sebastian is closer to Lieseil Inc., and isn’t someone who they need to fix as much as the other two. He doesnt have the same relationship and hatred for the corporation, and could possibly know some of their secrets, but ultimately his goal is to keep his brothers safe, so he will do what he needs to do for that.

*We now see that Daniel Curcio, the bassist of the band, is one of the security in Lieseil Inc. At 3:11 he sets off a smoke bomb filled with Anhedonia and run out of the room, grabbing something from Warhol’s hand at 3:23 when they are all passed out.

*Curcio breaks out the Bastards, and leads them outside of the mental estate, giving them gas masks to protect themselves.

*None of them speak, probably due to the horrific experiences they had in that building.

*An interesting thing to note is that all of the brothers receive gas masks, but Sebastian is the only one to lower it back down towards the floor. This could mean that he is reluctant to need to protect himself, or he is simply lost in thought about what had just happened to him and his brothers.

*At the end of the video, binary code flashes upon the screen. It reads: “Lieseil Inc. and Warhol Stars will burn your beds and leave you with anxiety”. This code directly connects to two songs on the album: Anxiety and Beds are Burning. It also connects to the theory of the brothers fighting back at the corporation by setting their cells on fire, as hinted in Get Higher.
