Hang On To Yourself

*“Invitation by Royale Decree, you are cordially welcomed to the Obsidian Recruitment Gala Masquerade hosted by Sir Alister Warhol”. This is letter that the Bastards received, so they made their way over to Obsidian Island to join. However, they were not supposed to be invited at all, but the letter somehow made their way to them instead of its desired recipient.

*This takes place before FWMH and Nervous Breakdown, meaning that they do not know much about how toxic the world around them is now.

*This masquerade is a recruitment for the Warhol Stars party, to join the New World Order of power. Since they were not meant to be invited, Alister asks of them: “Entertain me”

*0:14 – Remington drinks some of the red drink offered to him, not knowing of its effects yet.

*Remington only has his gas mask on for a very short portion of the video, in comparison to Emerson and Sebastian, who have them on every time they are walking amongst others. We believe this is so because of the red drink. It’s purpose is to meddle with the mind, and to weaken the drinker. Remington is being manipulated into taking off his gas masks, which makes him far more susceptible to toxic things around them.

*The line seen under Remington’s eyes is a symbol of his lack of knowledge of the world yet.  His eyes are covered, and he cannot see what is truly going on. This is why in FWMH, we see him covering only one eye, because his mind is now opening to seeing the worldly truth.

*As they are performing for Warhol, Remington collapses on the ground, fatigued. It has been confirmed that Alister knew that Rem would fall, which means that the collapse is directly linked to the drink from the beginning of the video.

*They do seem to be aware of how quickly they could be forced to change who they are in this environment, though. This is what the song is about, retaining who you are, even in a place where they want you to be someone else.

*2:59- at the top of the staircase, we can see the same chair that Emerson sits in in Morning Light

*Alister’s speech at the end shows exactly where the priorities of the Warhol Stars party lie. They only care about growing their power, not acknowledging or helping anyone lower than them, only for them to become “gods amongst men”.

*The written statement after this speech solidifies this point again, showing just how little they know or care about the citizens of Obsidian. They fail to realize how everyone is their own unique person, and that not everyone on a lower status than them is an “ordinary individual”.

*A card with ciphers on it shows up multiple times in the video. For more informtion, see ‘HOTY Cipher’ under the ‘ciphers’ tab.
